Where the Sidewalk Ends
by Shel Silverstein
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.
Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

REALLY like the photo!! Another great job! And Shel has some great poetry - some of it pretty funny!!
Jodi - I feel silly to admit all this, but I'm trying to fit all of the pieces together. I noticed that you went to JCCC and FSCH. Overland Park and Fort Scott are HOME for my family! It makes me think maybe I should already know who you are, but I can't figure it all out. What is your maiden name? Did you go to school with my cousins Gabe and Brett Parsons? Does your family still live in Fort Scott? Are you a Tucker? Or related to the Whitney Tucker? Were you at Gabe and Dustin's(Chance) funeral or were you already gone by then?
I know that just because you lived where my family lived doesn't mean we've met before. But I keep thinking I should know your family or something.
Sorry if these are stupid questions. I know you're a busy lady who doesn't need an insane lurker.
As always - I love your blog and your photography.
